This online lecture will illustrate how MRI helps to risk-stratify patients with new diagnosis of endometrial cancer and, combined with clinical factors, facilitates clinical decision-making regarding the need for lymphadenectomy. The lecture will highlight the role of MRI in the assessment of local and regional disease extent in patients with newly-diagnosed cervical cancer and discuss the role MRI and FDG-PET/CT in triaging patients to radical surgery versus definitive chemoradiotherapy.During the lecture, we will describe fertility-sparing options that may be available to young women who desire fertility preservation and have early stage cervical or endometrial cancer. We will highlight the central role of MRI in the selection of patients prior to these conservative treatments. Finally, this lecture will inform the attendees about the role of MRI and FDG-PET/CT for the assessment of response to chemoradiotherapy in patients with cervical cancer and detection/evaluation of recurrence.
